Hi, I’m John Harrison. I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor but you also might call me an awareness builder, a confidence guide, and an intuition coach. I received my master’s degree in mental health counseling right here in town at the University of Cincinnati. I’m also a former Army officer and am experienced in mentoring people in maximizing their potential through their strengths and weaknesses.
I provide solutions and guidance for people who are “stuck” in their life situation and are wanting to move into something new. Something they want.
I help people who want to get what they want in their lives but are stuck because they don’t think it’s possible or they simply don’t know how to do it.
I guide them to see how they can do life differently, moving off their old familiar spot, so they can be freed to get what they so desperately want and need.
I know from my stepping into my own fear and discomfort, knowing we have the power to change, that you can live your life fully empowered.
You can do life differently.
How I can help
My clients and couples thank me for being honest, straightforward, and firm with them. But they also appreciate that we can explore their current situations or relationship with curiosity and laughter.
We embrace imperfection and leave perfection at the door. Lasting change occurs when we allow ourselves to move to another level of conscious awareness.
I can assist you in:
- Developing a sense of faith in self instead of looking to search and cling to the “next thing” or “solution” outside of yourself
- Gaining an honest acceptance of your current situation so you can make it work for you, instead of being at the mercy of your circumstances
- Learning how to move to a “2nd consciousness” that allows you to be able to move your sense of self and your relationships to a greater level of peace and satisfaction
A few of my life lessons
I left the Army and went into a completely different profession almost 10 years ago. I knew it was time for me to do something different. It was a hard transition! I left everything I knew, my co-workers, my comfort zone, my benefits, my retirement possibilities. But it was time to make the move.
I then left my full time job. I was done being limited in my work. I wanted to do more. I wanted to have more reach and impact with the people I wanted to help. It was a very stressful and scary time as I left a secure job with benefits, and retirement benefits.
I stopped trying to please others and live up to someone else’s expectations. Nobody knows what I need more than I do. Nobody has the answers for me any more than I do. I struggled for a long time wanting to make sure that I was always “doing the right thing” but ended up learning that I never did the right thing for me. Instead I was too busy trying to fit myself in somewhere that wasn’t for me.
I became a father. I have 2 young daughters. Life has been turned upside down. It is wonderful and terrifying all at once. Life has taken new meaning and me in another direction. Now it’s up to me to embrace the perfect imperfection of life as a parent.
Understanding that there is no “there” that is better than “here”. Life is giving us the perfect opportunity to learn from it right now, in this very moment. It is in embracing what is in front of me, learning how to make it work for me, that has helped me in changing my life.
